Chelsea Schools need a community voice on emerging technology.

Artificial intelligence, student-tracking apps, and other new tools are reshaping education faster than policy can keep up. The Chelsea Emerging Technology Advisory Committee (CETAC) will ensure that decisions about these tools are informed, ethical, and transparent—guided by parents, educators, and experts—not vendors or career politicians.

But we need your support!

Proposal Goals

According to its bylaws, The Chelsea Board of Education has the authority to "establish standing, advisory, and ad hoc committees as it deems necessary and advisable". The Chelsea Emerging Technology Advisory Committee (CETAC) is a proposed standing advisory group dedicated to helping our schools navigate the complex world of artificial intelligence, data privacy, and digital learning systems.

The intent is to provide independent, community-grounded guidance on how emerging technologies are evaluated, selected, and implemented in the district. We believe that Chelsea's students deserve innovation that empowers them, and educators deserve clear, unbiased support in understanding these tools.

Inspired by the Sex Education Advisory Board (SEAB), CETAC would bring together professionals in technology, ethics, education, and data privacy—alongside teachers, administrators, parents, and students—to:

  • Review and assess emerging educational technologies used in Chelsea Schools.
  • Recommend policies that balance innovation with student safety, privacy, and agency.
  • Foster transparency by publishing meeting agendas, minutes, and recommendations to the community.
